Beautiful Box with Four Puzzles and Six Bisque Figures-Japan
This novelty toy, made in Japan, is probably pre-war. The paper litho label on the box lid shows one of the possible puzzles.
The boxes can be arranged to show four different puzzles, all featuring clowns in different scenes...falling from an aeroplane, riding a sphere in the night sky, seen with a giraffe head and more spheres, and in a landscape with a yellow sky and more floating spheres.
The set of six boxes that form the puzzles each contain a bisque figure. Each box has a slide out container that holds the figure.
The lift off lid box is 4.5 inches (11.5 cm) by 2.5 inches (6.35 cm).
Individual boxes are .75 x .75 by 2.25 inches. The bisque figures are 2 inches tall. I can tell that there is a clown, a couple of girls, a possible Dutch boy, another boy and maybe an Indian girl.
This toy was probably not played with as the delicate paper covered boxes show very little wear. It could be unsold old stock.
I consider overall condition to be very good to excellent.
