Vintage Cast Metal Japanese Prize Toy Olympic Pin- Swimming
These vintage pins and badges were prize toys. Each pin or badge was attached to a lightweight cardboard sheet in a numbered space. There were tickets at the bottom that the buyer would select to see what number prize they got.
This light weight pin is a gold colored cast metal with an attached pin.
Japan was allowed back in the Olymics in 1951 so it is possible some of these pins were produced at that time. They reference summer and winter sports so most likely they were produced for Japanese children to collect...they are not official Olympic pins.
This particular pin shows a swimmer among some laurel leaves in front of a sign that says "Olympic". The condition is unused, just as it came from the prize toy sheet. This pin shows no age related darkening.
1 inch (2.54 cm) wide.
Condition very good to excellent.
