Pre War Japanese Tin Drum-Two Children Playing Horn and Harmonica

$225.00 FREE shipping

These tin drums are a Japanese market item and were made anywhere from the 1920's until the 1960's. Used by children marching in the many festivals held in Japan, they came with a small wooden stick with a ball end that would strike the drum. Needless to say it was the first part lost.

This drum is Pre-War Japanese. A boy is tooting on a bugle or horn while his little sister blows into a harmonica. This image appears on both sides of the drum.

The edge of the drum shows two flower bouquets tied up with ribbons on a patterned background.

This drum is 4 and 3/8 inches (11 cm) in diameter and 1.75 inches  ( 4.4 cm) deep.

Condition is quite remarkable for the age. Coloirs are strong. The rims of the drum show some chips and wear. One side of the drum has some spots of wear and/or discoloration while the other is almost perfect. The sides of the drum also show light discoloration and I have made no attempt to clean anything.

One of my precious wooden strikers will be included with this drum.
