Pre War Japanese Tin Drum-Child Paying a violin
These tin drums are a Japanese market item and were made anywhere from the 1920's until the 1960's. Used by children marching in the many festivals held in Japan, they came with a small wooden stick with a ball end that would strike the drum. Needless to say it was the first part lost.
This drum is Pre-War Japanese. A girl in a lovely patterned dress is playing a violin. This image appears on both sides of the drum.
The edge of the drum shows two flower bouquets tied up with ribbons on a patterned background.
This drum is 4 and 3/8 inches (11 cm) in diameter and 1.75 inches ( 4.4 cm) deep.
Condition is quite remarkable for the age. Colors are strong. The rims of the drum show some chips and wear. One side of the drum has a very few spots of wear and/or discoloration while the other is almost perfect. The sides of the drum also show light discoloration and I have made no attempt to clean anything. Very Good to Excellent.
One of my precious wooden strikers will be included with this drum.
