Vintage Japanese Sugoroku Game Sheet- Animals in Various Transportation Vehicles

This sugoroku dates from just before WW2. This early vintage Japanese paper sugoroku game sheet shows a colorful assortment of vehicles, all with animal drivers and passengers. Judging by these images, humans do not exist.

There is a Rabbit scooter with rabbit and mouse riding, a motorcycle with bear on board, a tiger flying a plane. a hippo piloting a speedboat, elephants manning the fire truck, a train, tram, trolley and bus with animal passengers, a soldier dog on a bicycle (with a Tanuki on a scooter in the background) an oceanliner witha giraffe as a captain, and a jeep with lion soldiers.

This is a two sided game with not one but two additional games on the back...one a pin-the-face-features game and the other a type of baseball game. These are printed in blue ink only. Only the game sheet remains. There are no additional game pieces and the instructions are in Japanese. The game was made for the Japanese market.

This vintage Japanese paper sugoroku game sheet is a large size at 30 inches ( 76.3 cm) by 21.25 inches ( 54 cm). This early game sheet came folded and still shows those folds. It almost looks like it was refolded differently at some point (like that map that you can never get back the way it was originally). I flattened it a bit while doing some repairs but it will be shipped folded.

The thin paper game sheet shows some age with wear at the corner folds and some splits on the folds that I have repaired on the back side with acid-free book repair tape. I took some photos of the repairs. The paper shows some age related stains and some foxing. Overall condition is good.
