Vintage Cast Metal Japanese Prize Toy Pin- Car with Japanese Flag

These vintage pins and badges were prize toys. Each pin or badge was attached to a lightweight cardboard sheet in a numbered space. There were tickets at the bottom that the buyer would select to see what number prize they got.

These light weight pins are cast metal with an attached pin. Most are sports related and some have an Olympics connection, showing the Olympic rings, the word Olympic, the Japanese and/or American flags and the sport.

Japan was allowed back in the Olymics in 1951 so it is possible some of these pins were produced at that time. They reference summer and winter sports so most likely they were produced for Japanese children to collect...they are not official Olympic pins.

This particular pin shows an open car with driver and a passenger with a large Japanese flag...possibly representing the car used in the opening ceremonies. It was on a prize sheet with many of the Olympics related pins and badges.

Condition is unused, just as it came from the prize toy sheet, but with some age related darkening.

1 inch (2.54 cm) wide.
