Pair of Vintage Japanese Magic Smoke Novelty Cards-Tetsujin and Astro Boy

These small book-like cards have an image of Astro Boy with two robots on one side and Gigantor (Tetsujin-28) and a rocket on the other. The colorful artwork has a naive quality.

The little book-like novelty opens to show a peel-off paper and some Japanese instructions. I believe that these are magic smoke cards. The box they came in seems to indicate some kind of smoke or something that happens by rubbing whatever is under the peel-off paper between your fingers.

I tried it...nothing happens. So either it never worked or age has interferred with the desired result. Still, these are attractive images and I am selling them as a pair so that you can easily display both sides.
