Japanese Tin Sand Pail-Cooking Fish
I am not sure of the date this pail might have been manufactured. The handles are different from the early 1930's pails, they are attached with rivets like the 1950's vintage pails. I am still thinking it is pre war.
The images and themes are distinctly Japanese, pointing to manufacture for the Japanese market. Two girls, one in a kimono the other in a Western style dress are playing with their cooking set while a boy offers them some fish and an octopus.
The litho colors are reminiscent of the early 50's colors but somewhat darker or richer in hue. It is possible these pails were made just before the war.
Condition on this pail is Good Plus due to numerous small scrapes and chips in the litho surface. and some small spots of rust on the inside bottom of the pail.
4.25 inches (10.8 cm) tall , the handle adds 3.25 inches
top diameter is 5.75 inches (14.5 cm)
base diameter is 4 inches (10.1 cm)
