Pre-War Japanese Rattle Drum Whistle - Noisemaker B

This small Pre-War Japanese noisemaker is a rattle, a whistle and a drum all in one. The tin top is the drum. It is double sided, showing the same delicate image of a man in a floral landscape with gold undertone on both sides. The drum is 1 inch ( 2.54 cm) deep and 1.75 inches ( 4.44 cm) in diameter.

When you just shake the noisemaker a rattle sound is heard. If you spin it back and forth using the wood handle the two attached tin strikers make the drum sound.

  The wooded handle of the noisemaker is the whistle. It makes a high pitched sound.  With the handle the noisemaker is 4.25 inches (10.7 cm) tall.

This item is in remarkable condition for the age; almost 100 years old.  The colors and litho are fabulous, showing almost no wear. One side of the drum has a dark spot on the man's forehead. The gold sides of the drum show spots of age darkening. The whistle works well.
