Small Early Post War Tin Japanese Sand Pail - Colorful Koi Fish

This is one of the smallest of the early 1950's Japanese tin sand pails. A design of four fancy goldfish, or Koi fish swimming among water plants in turquoise water with rising bubbles covers the pail.

The body of this pail is 2 and 1/8 inch ( 5.39 cm) high. The metal handle adds another 1.25 inches (3.9 cm) to the height.  The top diameter is 2 and 5/8 inches ( 6.67 cm). The base is 1.75 inches ( 4.4 cm) in diameter.

The colors are pure early 50's, my favorite. I have not tried to polish up this pail but aside from a couple of minor chips or scratches the condition is very good.  The plain tin handle has darkened with age and the inside bottom has some light roughness to the touch.
